about

George Marsh – Drumset
Noam Lemish – Piano

Six of the pieces, those credited to Lemish & Marsh are completely improvised in a single take. Not a note was written down or pre-conceived in advance. These tracks document form and content unfolding then and there.

The other five pieces are original compositions. Some predefined aspects of content and of overall form – determined in each case by the named composer – provide a framework for what you hear here.

Of course, each of these compositions has a very important improvisatory component; both form and content depend heavily on choices made at every moment of their performance. And, like the free pieces, all were made in a single take – what you hear is what they heard as they created the piece. Every piece, whether partially pre-set or totally improvised, emerges out of respecting, and pursuing, the integrity of the evolving musical moment.

about

Noam Lemish Toronto, Ontario

He’s a jazz artist and a classical composer, an improviser and an accompanist, an intrepid cross-cultural investigator and an interpreter of contemporary composition. He
contains multitudes.
